“Hineni” | 2018

Mineral pitch and chalk drawing, 60x50 cm

Pio Monte della Misericordia Museum, Naples 2019

Permanent contemporary collection

Created on the museum's request, this work was expected to take another look at the themes of Caravaggio's painting "The Seven Works of Mercy" exhibited in the adjoining church : feed the hungry, give drink to those who are thirsty, clothes to those who are naked, welcome pilgrims, assist the sick, visit the prisoners, bury the dead. This face has a gaze imbued with an immaterial blue and seems inhabited by a divine light. Its title "Hineni" means "I am here" in Hebrew, a way for the artist to invoke the notion of humanity through a sensitive presence.
